Welcome to Krakow!

This year for Easter Holidays I decided to once again follow MASSOC on the annual international trip to Poland!

To be honest I don't really know a lot about Poland or ever thought of going there. The only reason why I decided to go on the trip was because it was so cheap! Siung set a price of £150 for the trip excluding personal expenditure which turned out to be just over £150 so in total I spent £300 for a 5day4night trip! Extremely good value. The only reason why I spent so much in the end was due to an extra tour which had to be paid for and souvenirs.

So, the plan was to meet outside Tesco on Edward Street where we would take a minibus to British Midlands Airport on the morning of 19th March. However, bloody Siung set the meeting time as 6am which is a horror since I live in Crookesmoor! So in the end I had to start my holiday early and sleepover at Phoebe's place in Aspect3 just so I don't have to wake up at 3am to get ready (I kicked Phoebe out of her own room.. oops). Ended up spending the night chatting with Ann Nee, Chuan Fu and Xuan whilst having some of Brenda's carrot cake.

Anyways, the aptly named "MASSOC Rocks Poland" group took a 9am flight to the lovely city of Krakow! It was the first time I've ever flown in a plane whilst it snowed! Can see all the snow settling on the airplane window. We took a tram to the Krakow Glowny which is the city centre train station. The station actually connects to the city's biggest shopping mall, Galeria Kwakowska, so we stopped there for lunch and to buy random bits and bobs.

We stayed in AQQ Hostel right smack in the heart of Old Town Krakow. On the first day we wandered around Krakow and did some window shopping in Market Square. There were really pretty horse-drawn carriages all over!

Next stop was Wawel Castle! Although, by the time we reached the castle everything was closing at it was quite late in the evening. We did get some great photos though as the castle grounds were so beautiful!

On our way back to the city for dinner we wandered amongst the streets of Krakow. Took loads of random pictures with statues and found a neat little chocolate shop where some of us stopped for some hot chocolate (did I mention it was freezing?).

By the time we were all done wandering around town we went to have some traditional Polish food! The food was amazing! We had Pierogi (Polish dumplings), Borscht (beetroot soup), Pork chops and Pancakes.

Before we headed back to the hostel, we stopped by the market square once again to take some pictures of the night lights. We also got photobombed by a bunch of Italian/Spanish tourists!

Next up: Krakow Day 2
