I'm back!!!
It's been a long long long long long long long long long long long long long long time....
.. and technically half of the time wasn't even my fault!!
During the last big thunderstorm... the evil Mr. Lightning came and struck my router and modem.. and then the next day the motherboard decided it was lonely without the modem and router and commited suicide as well...
So it actually took me 2 weeks to fix the computer...
Dell are the most useless people on earth.. I swear...
When my router and modem conked out I called the maxis people and they straight away arranged to send a technician over the fix everything... but obviously I couldn't be that lucky right.. the lightning striked on Friday evening so the Maxis people said they could only come over on Monday...
No matter lah... Just wait until Monday... then on Saturday night the motherboard died... and Sunday Dell office not open... so couldn't contact them until Monday... so had to cancel the Maxis appointment cos how to fix modem and router if computer can't be turned on...
Then on Monday I called Dell and ... long story.. the conversation was something like this..
The writing in Green is what I'm thinking.
Dell : Good Evening. How may I help you.
Me : Yes hi! I would just like to enquire what I should do if my CPU won't turn on? (at time time I didn't know it was my motherboard problem)
Dell : May I have your [computer serial number thingy]
Me : Erm.. where may that be?
Dell : Oh it is located on the CPU Casing... either the top or the back...
Me : Hold on. *crawls underneath computer table* Erm.. its XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (it's quite long).
Dell : Miss... I think your problem might be due to the recent lightning (stupid go and make their own assumption) . If it is caused by the lightning then I'm afraid your warranty will not cover the damage.
Me : Oh it's OK.. Can you just send over a technician to find out the source of the problem before I do anything else... I can pay the technician if necessary.
Dell : Why don't you just open up the CPU and check whether the Motherboard has burn marks... I'm sure there will be if it is caused by the lightning.. (WTF! How can ask me to go and open it!)
Me : Erm... ok (be patient).. Can you guide me on how to check it out? I'm not familiar with the Dell CPU.
Dell : Oh.. I'll send you an E-mail (this guy stupid or what)
Me : Erm.. my computer can't turn on... Obviously I can't check my e-mail .
Dell : Oh ya! That might be a problem hor...hahahahahaha ... (losing my patience.. stop laughing) Miss.. I will file a report about your case but I'm afraid you will have to call us back tomorrow for further instructions about how to conduct a check of your motherboard....
Me : Fine
Next day...
Me : Stupid dell people ask me to open up the CPU myself.. how am I suppose to know how to do it.. you better come and help me...
William (my regular technician) : Aiyo... I'm not free today.. I come tomorrow and see ok? I don't think I can do much also because Dell things all need to be purchased from Dell.. can't use other brands..
Me : Nevermind.. just come ba...
Next day...
William checks... no burn mark... calls Dell... file another report...
Dell say will call me in 24 hours...
2 days later (WTF?)
Dell : We will send over a technician to troubleshoot your CPU... if it isn't caused by lightning then the charges will be covered by your warranty... if not... to fix a motherboard will probably cost around RM900.
Me : HAR!?!? (wtfwtfwtf)
Dell : If it it too expensive then maybe you should consider purchasing an extended warranty as you will recieve a discount. We will send a technician over on Monday.
Monday technician comes... not cause of lightning.. but cannot fix on the spot.. need to go back to HQ and get some parts...
Finally comes back after two days...
Fix the computer then I have to call the Maxis people to arrange another appointment..
.. and finally computer fixed....
Siao... and now my internet suddenly become slower than it first was... haih...
sickening..
p.s On contrary to what most people *cough* Nana, ZhiHao, Kirsten, Stella *cough* I'm not playing MAPLE!!!
